Easter
Egg cartons stacked into a pedestal, white ranunculus pushing through the gaps, petals falling. At the centre, a handmade organic white chocolate egg, rough and textured, sits like a found object among the flowers.
The egg opens to reveal a nest of small foil-wrapped chocolates in copper, blue, green, and gold, scattered across white petals on a warm beige backdrop. A single ranunculus rests on a dark chocolate block. More blooms spill from a sculptural ceramic vase.
Two espresso martinis with kumquat arrive in ribbed coupe glasses, dark espresso visible beneath a pale creamy foam, each one garnished with a dried kumquat slice and two coffee beans.
It ends at the table: toasted sourdough brioche topped with butter and kumquat jam, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, white chocolate crumbs, and delicate white chocolate shards. Spring on a plate, unhurried and quietly indulgent.
